I am so excited to start my series of healthy wholefoods workshops & demonstrations! Reading a recipe is all well and good, but most importantly it is fantastic to see a meal come to life right in front of you, have questions answered finally taste test. Let me show you how to make delicious healthy foods without too much fuss. My philosophy is that preparing a nutritious, healthy, yummy meal shouldn’t take you all day and furthermore you should be able to source the ingredients easily. I want you to come away from my demos and workshops full of inspiration, confidence and keen to start cooking up something new straight away.
My recipes are all gluten free and vegan. I am a Raw Food Chef, but my own diet is a mix of raw and cooked vegan food, so that is what I will present in my demos and workshops. In the heat of summer I eat more raw foods than in winter, when the lower temperatures make me want to turn on the oven more often. I believe its important to listen to your body and tweak your diet according to the seasons, your workload, your energy needs, your age, where you are and what you are doing. The cleaner you eat, the easier it will become to understand what your body needs. Our lives are constantly changing, therefore its important to allow lots of variation in our diets.
I don’t preach veganism, however I do bang on about the need to include more vegetables to every meal. So even if you are not a vegan, my recipes will serve you well. It is easy enough to just add whatever protein you like to the vegetable dishes! You are welcome to my demos and workshops whatever your diet consist of, you don’t have to be a vegan to enjoy vegan food.
These are my food rules that I go by:
- Never eat processed foods
- Make sure your plate is colourful ( adding a variety of colours is an easy way to include a range of nutrients)
- Apply the 80/20 rule to your plate (80% vegetables, 20% something else you fancy, as long as it is healthy)
- Eat until you are full
- Never eat unless you are hungry
When I look at my plate of food, I want to see vibrant, colourful and fresh foods. Why waste your appetite on anything else?
